This wine is #76 on Wine Enthusiasts Top 100 Wines of the World for 2008! We couldn’t agree more. Their 93 Point sampling resulted in a description of “Deep and focused. Plump pineapple, apple. Spice, herb, fruit…serious guts”. You’ll love the dense flavors which emulate California full-body monsters without the overpowering wood. Balance, elegance, structure and smooth body.
Washington’s Mike Januik makes his wines up in Woodinville near Seattle (and his old stomping grounds from when he made wines at Ch. Ste. Michelle) but sources his grapes from top vineyards from throughout the Northwest. We’ve been enjoying not just this example of his talents, but also his Red Wine, Cabernet, and Cold Creek Chardonnay with similar enthusiasm throughout the season.
Mike Januik describes his wine: “Spice-scented pear complements melon, tropical fruit and a hint of grapefruit in this rich, generous wine most notable for its length and wonderful viscosity on the mid and back palate where the dark fruits and concentration will add to the rich flavors of the occasion.”
