At a recent Vendor Challenge tasting we challenged Brian Hubbels of Vinum Distributing in Portland to bring a flight of 5 wines which would be deemed better than the flight of wines brought by his competition, and he did! Of the 5 wines presented, this blended Old Vine Zinfandel was the hit of the night, coming in at #1 for only $13.99/bottle!
It wasn’t just the value that impressed the crowd. “Silky layers of berry fruit and spice” with plum, blackberry, cassis, fig and more coat the palate and are followed up with a long juicy and oak-infused finish. The complexity is just enough for pondering, and the balance smooth throughout.
You’ll love this multi-appellation blend of Paso Robles, Lodi, Mendocino, Amador and Sonoma fruit best when paired with heavy BBQ’d red meats and roasts, where the dark fruits and concentration will add to the rich flavors of the occasion.
This wine is available at Salut! Wine Co. for $13.99, or available to wine club members for only $11.89!
